Why use WhatsApp DP?
WhatsApp shows your DP as a small circle, and it crops again when you upload. If you pick the framing yourself first, your face stays in the middle instead of getting cut off at the chin or forehead.
The download is a square PNG, 640 × 640 pixels by default. WhatsApp keeps the square and shows it as a circle, so the corners are still in the file. The ring drawn on the result screen is only a preview of the visible area and is not saved.
Faces close to the edge of the ring get clipped in the small chat-list circle, so keep the face well inside it and leave some room above the head. Larger widths up to 8000 pixels are allowed if you also want the file for other apps.

How to use WhatsApp DP
- 01Tap Choose image and pick a photo, or paste one from the clipboard.
- 02Drag the circle so your face sits in its middle with some space above your head. Pull a corner handle to zoom in or out.
- 03Tap Create crop, look at the ring on the result, then tap Download result and set the PNG as your DP in WhatsApp.

- Leave some space above your head. WhatsApp crops a bit more when it saves the photo.
- Use a photo at least 640 pixels wide so the DP stays sharp on large phones.

- Look at the preview at small size. That is how most people will see your DP.
