Reddit image downloader — what this tool actually does

This Reddit image downloader saves the pictures attached to public posts without making you click each one. Reddit is a forum where people share images and galleries in subreddits. Paste a public subreddit or post link and ExtractPics opens it in a real headless browser, finds the files behind the post, and lets you preview and download the full resolution version. It still works on public links after old.reddit.com started requiring a login in August 2026.

A quick note on ownership. Reddit hosts the files, but the poster or the original artist owns the copyright. Downloading does not give you the right to reuse the image. Use it for personal reference, saving a thread you like, or backing up a post you made. Follow Reddit's terms and ask the owner before you repost or use an image for work.

Old.reddit.com began asking signed-out visitors to log in in August 2026. That broke downloaders that depended on its lightweight public HTML. ExtractPics uses the regular www.reddit.com page instead. Paste a public share link and it opens that page in a browser, waits for Reddit's scripts, and records the image files sent to a signed-out visitor. This covers public gallery posts with several images as well as direct image submissions that older bookmarklets or HTML-only downloaders may miss.

Anything Reddit keeps behind a login stays off limits: private communities, quarantines, age gates, deleted posts, moderator restrictions and expired media links. If an old.reddit.com link stops at sign-in, change the hostname to www.reddit.com or copy a fresh URL from Reddit's Share menu. The scan returns only images loaded during that public visit. It cannot reveal hidden comments, account data or media behind authentication. Check the post in a private browser window if you are unsure whether it is public.

Posts and galleries

Drop in a post link and ExtractPics finds every image attached, including Reddit gallery posts that bundle several pictures into one submission.

Originals, not previews

Reddit shows compressed previews in the feed. The tool grabs the full-size image file behind the post so you save the original resolution and format.

Why use a Reddit image downloader responsibly

Saving from the feed often gives you a recompressed preview, and gallery posts make you click each slide. The file behind a post is the original, larger and sharper. This tool fetches that file and collects a whole gallery in one pass.

ExtractPics only reaches images that are already public. It does not log in, bypass age gates or quarantines, or get around any protection Reddit has. It just resolves a public link you paste to the files behind it.

The hard part is using images with care. Many posts are reposts without credit, and being able to save a file does not mean you can republish it. Keep downloads for personal use, follow Reddit's terms, and credit the creator before you use an image in public.

Frequently asked questions

If your question is not covered here, send us a message and include the page, file, or result type you are working with.

How do I download images from a Reddit post?

Open the public post on reddit.com, copy its URL from the address bar, and paste it into the box at the top of this page. ExtractPics opens the post in a real browser, finds every image attached — including gallery posts — and lets you download the full-resolution files individually or together as a ZIP.

Is this Reddit image downloader free?

Yes. It runs in your browser with no signup and no software to install. Paste a public subreddit or post link and download right away. Very heavy or bulk use may hit a fair-use limit, but everyday saving is free.

Can it download all the images in a Reddit gallery post?

Yes. Reddit gallery posts bundle several images into one submission. Paste the post URL and the tool lists every image in the gallery so you can select them and download them together as a single ZIP.

Does it work with private or NSFW subreddits behind a login?

No. ExtractPics only reaches images that are already publicly visible. It does not sign in or bypass age gates, quarantines, or private-community access controls — it only works with public posts and subreddits you can already see without an account.

Is it legal to download images from Reddit? What about copyright and Reddit's terms?

Reddit hosts public content, but the original poster — or the artist or photographer behind the image — owns the copyright, and downloading a file never grants you the right to reuse it. Treat downloads as for personal use only. Respect Reddit's terms of service and the rights holder's copyright, and get permission before reposting or using a Reddit image commercially or publicly.

Will the downloaded image keep its original quality?

Yes. You receive the full-size file behind the post at its original resolution and format. The tool does not re-compress or upscale anything and adds no watermark — though the source image may carry its own watermark or licensing.

Can I use a Reddit image downloader on my phone?

Yes. ExtractPics is browser-based, so it works on mobile. Copy the post or subreddit link, paste it in, and save the images — easier than the long-press download that some mobile browsers make awkward on Reddit.

Does this still work after old.reddit.com started requiring a login?

Yes, for posts and communities that remain publicly visible on the current Reddit site. Paste the normal www.reddit.com post or subreddit URL. ExtractPics renders that public page instead of relying on old.reddit.com's signed-out HTML. It does not bypass a real login wall, private community, quarantine, or age gate.

Should I paste an old.reddit.com link or a www.reddit.com link?

Use the current www.reddit.com share link when possible. If you only have an old.reddit.com URL, replace the old subdomain with www or open the post and copy a fresh link from Reddit's Share menu before scanning.

Why does a public Reddit post sometimes return fewer gallery images than expected?

Some slides may be deleted, age-restricted, temporarily unavailable, or loaded only after an interaction Reddit does not expose to signed-out visitors. Try the direct post URL rather than a subreddit feed and confirm every slide is visible in a private browser window without signing in.

What is this reddit image downloader?

ExtractPics is a free reddit image downloader for public webpages. Paste a URL into the box, hit Extract, and wait a few seconds. We open the page in a real browser, collect the images it loaded, and show them so you can preview, filter, and download. You will usually get most of what is on the page. Login walls and private galleries are out of reach because we only see what a normal visitor sees.

How can I find specific images?

After a scan, use the format and size filters on the results toolbar. That is the fastest way to drop icons, skip tiny files, or keep only JPGs. Filenames show on each card, so you can scan for a product name or a known asset. Tick the ones you want and leave the rest. You do not have to download the whole pile.

What can I do with the results?

Preview every image in a grid. Filter by type or size. Copy one URL or copy all of them. Download a single file, or select several and get a ZIP. Quick Extract covers the page you pasted. Deep Extract follows a few linked pages when the set is paginated. There is no account required to try this.

Can I download multiple images at once?

Yes. Select the images you want, then use Download selected to pack them into a ZIP. Large sets take longer because each file is fetched from its original host. A few files may be missing from the ZIP if that host blocks the request. Download those ones individually, or open them in a new tab.

The extraction does not work. Why?

The usual causes: the page is not public, it sits behind a login, or it is so slow or heavy that it never finishes loading. Very large infinite-scroll feeds can also time out. Try again in a minute, try a shorter URL (a single product page instead of a huge homepage), or switch between Quick Extract and Deep Extract. If the site itself is down, we cannot invent images that never loaded.

The download does not work. Why?

Some sites stop other pages from hotlinking their files. The preview may say it failed, or a ZIP may skip that image. Right-click the preview if you have one, or open the image URL in a new tab and save it from there. If nothing downloads at all, write to us from the contact page with the URL you tried.

How does the reddit image downloader work?

Each run opens your URL in a headless Chrome browser. We wait for the page to render, run its JavaScript, and scroll so lazy-loaded pictures appear. Then we collect img tags, srcset sources, CSS backgrounds, picture elements, and SVG. Tracking pixels and broken URLs are stripped before you see the grid.

Does it work with dynamic websites?

Yes. The page is viewed the same way you would view it in Chrome. Scripts run. Network requests get a chance to finish. Infinite-scroll and lazy-load galleries are the reason we bother with a real browser instead of reading static HTML. If a picture only exists after you scroll, we try to load it before collecting.

How many images are extracted?

We scroll the page for several seconds and keep what loaded in that window — typically the first stretch of an infinite feed, not an endless crawl of the whole internet. Deep Extract can follow up to three linked pages. Duplicates and invalid files are removed. A 12-photo product page often returns all 12. A social feed that never stops scrolling will not.

Can I extract from multiple URLs at once?

Yes. Switch to Bulk Extract, paste more than one URL, and run it. Images from every address land in the same results grid, so you can filter and download them together. Each URL uses one global credit.
