Hexagon Crop online

Hexagon Crop cuts an image into a six-sided hexagon and leaves the corners transparent. It works well for profile pictures, team photos, and logo badges. Drag the frame, check the preview, and download a PNG.

The short answer

Why use Hexagon Crop?

Hexagon tiles fit together edge to edge, so a set of hexagon photos reads as one group on a team page or a game board, and every tile comes out the same size if you keep the width the same.

This is a regular six-sided hexagon with a point at the top and the bottom and flat sides on the left and right. It sits inside a square frame, so the PNG is square (1200 × 1200 by default) and two narrow strips down the left and right edges end up transparent along with the four corners.

Points-up hexagons are the usual choice for honeycomb layouts on team pages and badges. If your layout needs flat tops, turn the finished PNG 90 degrees with Rotate; the transparent corners stay transparent.

The shape is narrower than the frame, so a logo with a long wordmark loses its ends. Frame only the symbol, or give the logo room on both sides with Square Image before you crop. For a set of matching tiles, export every photo at the same width.

Hexagon Crop tips

  • Frame the symbol only; long wordmarks lose their ends.
  • Export every tile at the same width so the set matches.
  • Rotate the PNG 90 degrees for flat-topped hexagons.
  • Leave room around faces; the left and right strips are cut away.

Hexagon Crop FAQ

Something missing? Ask us.

Why is the hexagon crop saved as a PNG?

PNG keeps transparency. Everything outside the hexagon stays see-through, so the shape sits cleanly on any background. JPEG would fill those corners with a solid color.

Does Hexagon Crop upload my file?

No. Your browser does the work and clears the file when you leave the page. File names, pixels, and metadata are not sent to analytics.

Is Hexagon Crop free to use?

Yes. No signup and no watermark.

Why did Hexagon Crop fail or look wrong?

If the tab stops responding, the file is too big for this device's memory. iPhone HEIC photos may need exporting as JPEG first.
