The short answer
Why use Oval Crop?
A circle squeezes a standing portrait or a long landscape. An oval follows the shape of the subject, and because you set it with numbers, every oval in an album page or a set of cards comes out the same.
Width and Height both accept 16 to 8000 pixels and start at 1200 × 900. Their ratio sets the crop frame, so changing either number reshapes the frame on the preview at once. The ellipse fills 96% of the width and 96% of the height of the PNG, leaving a thin transparent band around it as well as the four corners.
The frame keeps the ratio of your typed size while you drag its handles, so the handles change how much of the photo goes in, not the shape. If the frame will not get taller, raise the Height number instead. Faces look natural in an upright oval of about 3:4 or 4:5, such as 960 × 1200.
Unlike Avatar Crop or WhatsApp DP, the area outside the oval is really transparent in the file, so it sits on a card or scrapbook page without a box around it. For a perfectly round result use Circle Crop. To keep the corners, use Crop Image.

Oval Crop tips
- Swap the default 1200 × 900 to 900 × 1200 for a standing portrait.
- The handles keep the typed ratio, so reshape the oval with the numbers.
- Give every photo in a set the same two numbers so the ovals match.
- Leave a gap above the hair; the oval narrows quickly at the top.
