Fish Eye online

Fish Eye magnifies the middle of a circle and squeezes the ring near its edge, so straight lines bow outward like a fish-eye lens. Place the center, set the strength and radius, and download the result as a PNG.

The short answer

Why use Fish Eye?

A real fish-eye look needs a special lens. This gives you a round, curved distortion on any photo you already have, limited to the area you choose.

Strength runs from 0 to 100% and starts at 60%; 0 leaves the photo unchanged. Radius starts at 45% of the shorter side and can go from 5 to 100%. Center X and Center Y start at 50%, and you can tap or drag on the preview to move the center. Raise Radius to 100% to bend most of the frame instead of a spot.

The middle of the circle is drawn larger, as if seen through a dome of glass, and the ring near the edge is squeezed to make room, so straight lines bow outward around the center. At the rim the effect fades to nothing, which keeps a smooth join with the rest of the photo. High strength on a small radius gives a round, bubble-like swelling.

Bulge and Pinch gives a softer swell and can also pinch the center inward with negative Strength. Swirl twists the same kind of circle instead of bending it. To remove lens distortion from a real wide-angle photo, this tool will not help; it only adds distortion.

Fish Eye tips

  • Radius 100% bends most of the frame rather than one spot.
  • Strength 0 leaves the photo untouched, so raise it gradually from 20.
  • Magnification is strongest at the center and eases off toward the rim.
  • Bulge and Pinch gives a gentler swell and can also pinch inward.

Fish Eye FAQ

Something missing? Ask us.

Does Fish Eye magnify the middle of the photo?

Yes. Inside the circle the middle is drawn larger and the band near the rim is compressed, the way a fish-eye lens bulges what sits in front of it. Outside the circle nothing changes.

What does Radius control?

The size of the circle that is bent, as a share of the shorter side of the image. Outside that circle the photo is not changed.

Does Fish Eye upload my file?

No. Your browser does the work and clears the file when you leave the page. File names, pixels, and metadata are not sent to analytics.

Is Fish Eye free to use?

Yes. No signup and no watermark.

Why did Fish Eye fail or look wrong?

If the tab stops responding, the file is too big for this device's memory. iPhone HEIC photos may need exporting as JPEG first.
