Why use Straighten?
Rotating a crooked photo leaves wedge-shaped gaps in the corners, and cropping them out by eye usually takes a few tries. Crop to fill works out the largest clean rectangle for you.
The Angle slider runs from -45 to 45 degrees in steps of 0.1 and starts at 0, which leaves the photo unchanged. Positive values turn it clockwise. Most tilted horizons need between -5 and 5 degrees. Line up the horizon or a door frame with the edge of the preview, and nudge the slider until it stops sloping.
Crop to fill is on by default. It cuts the result down to the largest rectangle that fits inside the turned photo, so no blank corners remain. That rectangle shrinks fast: at 10 degrees a 4000 × 3000 photo loses a noticeable strip from every side. Leave space around your subject when you shoot if you plan to straighten later.
If you turn Crop to fill off, Straighten behaves like Rotate and fills the corners with transparency. Rotate is the better choice for 90 or 180 degree turns, since its slider covers the full -180 to 180 range. Perspective Crop fixes a different problem: a page or screen photographed at an angle, where the edges converge.

- 02Drag Angle from its 0 start in small amounts, usually between -5 and 5, until the horizon runs parallel to the frame edge.

Straighten tips
- Line up a door frame or a window edge when the horizon is hidden.
- Each extra degree trims more from every side when Crop to fill is on.
- Turn Crop to fill off if you plan to paint the transparent corners yourself.
- Angles beyond 45 degrees need Rotate, whose slider reaches 180.
