Why use Random Pixel?
When the size has to be exact, drawing a new image beats stretching an old one. Change a value and make it again whenever you need.
Random Pixel fills the canvas with pixels of random color, like the static on an old TV turned to full color. Set the width and height anywhere from 16 to 8000 pixels, and every run gives a new pattern.
For a texture, make a small tile such as 64 × 64 and scale it up in your editor with nearest-neighbor resampling, so the pixels stay crisp squares. Laying the noise over a photo at low opacity with Image Overlay gives a fine grain.
To add grain to an existing photo, Film Grain and Add Noise do it in one step. Random Pixel makes a new image from nothing, the same output as Random Image, which is aimed at test files.
