Why use Video to GIF?
Turning a clip into a GIF normally means trimming it in a video editor and exporting through a converter. Here you type the start and length and get the GIF in one pass, without the video leaving your device.
Start at (seconds) begins at 0 and Length (seconds) at 5, with a maximum of 30. Frames per second runs from 1 to 30 and starts at 10. GIF width offers 320, 480, or 720 pixels, with 480 as the default. If the length runs past the end of the video, the GIF simply stops at the last frame. The result loops forever.
Your browser does the decoding, so the file has to be one it can play. An iPhone MOV in HEVC often opens in Safari but not in Chrome or Firefox on Windows; choose Most Compatible in the camera settings or convert it to MP4 first. Each frame is read by seeking, so long clips at 30 fps take a while, and 720 pixels at a high frame rate makes a heavy file.
For a single sharp still, Video Frame Extractor saves one PNG at the video's full resolution. After you have the GIF, Reduce GIF Frames or Resize GIF can make it smaller, and GIF Speed Changer can retime it without going back to the video.
