Add Arrow online

Add Arrow draws one straight arrow on an image to point at a button, a crack, or a detail. Type where it starts and ends as percentages of the image, pick the width and color, and download a PNG.

The short answer

Why use Add Arrow?

Freehand arrows drawn with a finger come out wobbly. Typed coordinates give a clean, straight line with a proper arrowhead, and the same numbers give the same arrow on the next screenshot.

The arrow starts at X 20%, Y 50% and ends at X 80%, Y 50%, so the default is a horizontal arrow pointing right across the middle. Every box takes 0 to 100. Line width runs from 2 to 60 and starts at 12; Arrow color starts at a deep red. The head is a filled triangle about twice as long as the line is wide.

Line width is scaled to the image, as if its longest side were 1400 pixels, so 12 looks similar on a phone screenshot and a 4000 pixel photo. Because positions are percentages, you can reuse the same numbers on a series of screenshots of the same app screen and the arrows land in the same place.

For a label next to the arrow, run the result through Add Text to Image; its text sits in the bottom-right corner. Add Emoji is quicker when a pointing hand or a circle emoji is enough. To hide private details in the same screenshot before you share it, use Blur Face or Pixelate.

Add Arrow FAQ

Something missing? Ask us.

How do the X and Y numbers work?

They are percentages of the image. X 0 is the left edge and 100 the right edge; Y 0 is the top and 100 the bottom. The head is drawn at the End point.

Can I draw more than one arrow?

Not in one pass. Download the result, open it again, and add the next arrow. Each pass draws one.

Can I drag the arrow on the preview?

No. The position comes from the four number boxes. The preview updates as you change them.

Does Add Arrow upload my file?

No. Your browser does the work and clears the file when you leave the page. File names, pixels, and metadata are not sent to analytics.

Is Add Arrow free to use?

Yes. No signup and no watermark.

Why did Add Arrow fail or look wrong?

If the tab stops responding, the file is too big for this device's memory. iPhone HEIC photos may need exporting as JPEG first.
